mobiManage helps Sacramento Zoo educate visitors with the development of their new mobile website solution
Scottsdale, Arizona (October 22, 2015) – The Sacramento Zoo has come a long way since 1927. From being known as the “little Zoo in the park” and housing only 40 animals on a 4.2 acre lot, to now being a home to over 140 different types of animals on a 14.2 acre lot. They have made it a goal over the years to provide a source where guests can connect, respect, and appreciate the wildlife and it’s environment. Keeping up with goals means keeping up with today’s demand for mobile convenience. This can be difficult when you have a literal zoo to manage, so we stepped in to create a mobile website for the Sacramento Zoo to keep guests updated and give them the ability to interact with education, recreation, and conservation.
When planning a trip to the zoo, there are 2 things we usually do; 1. Pre-Plan (Hours of Op, Ticket Pricing, and Directions) and 2. Create the Experience (Event Options, Animal Route, and Gift shop). Knowing that most of the people visiting the Sacramento Zoo use their mobile devices to source information, they decided that building a mobile website would be the perfect way for guests to plan their trip, create their own experience, and drive mobile traffic to their site. mobiManage wanted to give guests the ability to do all this and more, while giving Sacramento Zoo the ability to view analytics and track mobile traffic on their site.
What We Did
mobiManage, is a leading interactive software agency that designs responsive web, mobile/tablet, kiosk, display and app solutions. We collaborated with Sacramento Zoo to really get a grasp on what the necessities are for the design and UX of their mobile platform. First off, it was important to keep wildlife at the forefront. The second you open the website, you are welcomed by a big pair of lion eyes, a playful monkey, and bright pink flamingos that keep the site “Wildly Inspiring!” The ability to view the selection of animals, purchase entry tickets, and check out daily events are right at the users fingertips making it easier than ever plan their trip.
Education was also key when developing the new mobile site. There are easy-to-find links to the zoo’s opportunities for education through field trips, volunteer programs, and senior trips. Visitors are able to read up on the Sacramento Zoo’s conservation efforts and even vote on which conservation project they want the Zoo to start next.
For the backend of the solution, the mobiManage Marketing Platform makes it convenient for visitors and the Sacramento Zoo to do about anything. Our mobiManage CMS gives them the ability to integrate their third party ticketing, membership, and donation systems and makes in easy to manage visitor information. We also decided to incorporate Google Analytics and the SEO module. This helps to set up high ranking keywords and phrases found in mobile searches, manage page and content tags, optimize image and video content for better search traffic, and track success through analytics.
“With our mobiManage Marketing Platform integrated with a custom CMS, analytics, and our SEO module, the Sacramento Zoo mobile website will drive more traffic than ever and will give them the opportunity to continue to educate their visitors in a mobile-friendly way,” said Douglas Ralston, President and CEO of mobiManage.
